Peaces

PEACE BY PIECE

BY FLINT CHRISTENSEN

AND LAURISSA RASMUSSEN

The spangled banner

Lies tattered and torn,

With each special interest

The pieces are shorn.

E-pluribus Unum

Our leaders declare

And each to his own

Buyer, bidder, beware.

With interest rates rising

And folks at the border

The liberal agenda cries,

“New social order”

Each to his own

They say, “Listen to me!

I’ve a glorious plan,

How our country should be!

Free ride to you all

So you won’t go without.”

“And free money too,”

They all start to shout.

The parchment is tired

Our liberty disgraced

And our god in heaven

Is now lower cased.

But nothing is free

There’s a price we will pay,

Cause we took from tomorrow

For the greed of today.

We’ve got to Unite or

This country will fall

In pieces like this

There’s no peace at all.
